DUANE MACLEOD of Mainely Menswear • Based in the small island community of Georgetown, Maine, Duane MacLeod is a registered nurse in a small urgent care clinic and an inspiring sewist. When he could not find a store-bought coat that suited him, Duane sewed the duffle coat from the Japanese sewing book Men’s Coats by Ryuichiro Shimazaki, and never looked back. He’s been making his own clothes for about 10 years now. Even though he doesn’t blog as often these days, Duane continues to share his process as a way of encouraging others.

CURVE APPEAL • Make the most of large-scale prints, finesse the fit of set-in sleeves and get fitting tips for a classic shift dress.

#SewOver 50 • With fun challenges and engaging conversation, the @SewOver50 community brings visibility (and fun!) to this active demographic on Instagram.
