James is a New Yorker who feels stuck in life. He lacks confidence and holds a job that doesn't satisfy him. When he wakes up in the middle of the desert, he soon finds out he's not alone. As he wanders through a dune sea with Barry, they try to figure out how and why they're there. Though the answers they receive aren't the ones they were expecting.
