"A fizzy, fun, and full-of-heart romcom." —Booklist
Some people search their whole lives to find love. He just wants to avoid it.
Teddy Spenser spends his days selling design ideas to higher-ups, living or dying on each new pitch. Stodgy engineer types like Romeo Blue, his nemesis—if you can call someone who barely talks to you a nemesis—are a necessary evil. A cute necessary evil.
Working together is bad enough, but when their boss puts them both on a new high-stakes project, "working together" suddenly means:
  • sitting uncomfortably close on the same plane
  • staying in the same hotel room—with only one bed
  • spending every waking minute together.

  • Turns out Mr. Starched Shirt has some hidden depths, and it's getting harder to ignore the spark Teddy feels with every brush of their hands, with every knowing glance. He might not have been looking for this connection with Romeo, but will he ever be ready to let him go?
Carina Adores is home to romantic love stories where LGBTQ+ characters find their happily-ever-afters.

Product designer Teddy Spenser knows that a successful consumer product should make the user feel something. However, the only emotion Teddy is experiencing while working with software engineer Romeo Blue on Reddyflora's revolutionary new vase is annoyance. While Romeo might have cornered the market on buttoned-up hotness, Teddy has enjoyed livelier conversations with the office coffeemaker. Getting the vase to look good, work well, and come in under budget is difficult enough for Teddy and Romeo, then their boss throws another challenge at them. Teddy and Romeo are going to have to present their project to a potential new investor in the company, which means the two coworkers are now going to be travel partners! Displaying a masterful use of comic dialogue and simmering sexual chemistry, Fielding puts her own sweetly sexy spin on the classic office romance, and the end result is a fizzy, fun, and full-of-heart romcom.

An eccentric investor pushes two coworkers through a series of strange tests in this effervescent gay romance from Fielding (the Bureau series). Teddy Spenser, a product designer at Chicago startup Reddyflora, grows increasingly frustrated with the clunky technological models of his work nemesis, the humorless but attractive software engineer Romeo Blue. With financing running low, Reddyflora CEO Lauren Wu pins her hopes on tastemaker Joyce Alexander, who tentatively agrees to fund the project contingent on an in-person meeting in Seattle. Lauren foists the trip onto Teddy and Romeo—and in travelling together, Teddy begins to see Romeo’s tender side. The unconventional Joyce is not content with board room presentations and demands Teddy and Romeo prove themselves through three tests: the pair are sent on a hike (ended early when Teddy sprains his ankle), whisked to an escape room (which bamboozles them, but sparks a make-out session), and thrust into cooking a romantic, and ultimately disastrous, Valentine’s meal for Joyce. Certain they have failed, they receive a surprising ultimatum from Joyce which challenges Teddy and Romeo’s fragile new relationship. Sharp dialogue and well-paced plot make for a genuinely delightful reading experience. This is a sweet treat for fans of contemporary gay romances.
